Replicate : Abi's White Wedding Look

Hey Pretties,

It's Christmas day & here's wishing all readers of my blog a very Merry Christmas. May Christ the Reason For the season dwell in your hearts richly & may our lives be a reflection of his wondrous love towards us.

I would have loved to do a holiday inspired look for you, but mehn - O dikwa next year, lol. In the interim, i decided to teach you how i achieved one of Abi's bridal looks for those who need some inspiration for what look to wear today or this festive season.

It was difficult deciding which of Abi's looks to share with you, but i decided this look is the easiest of the 2.

You can't go wrong with this Look

 For her Eyes -

1). I covered dark areas of her eyes with some concealer, outlined her bows with Davis's Brow Pencil in '018' & filled it in with BM Pro's Brow Powder in 'Auburn'.
2). I then highlighted her brows with a concealer 2 shades lighter than her skin tone & set it with a matching shadow with a hint of shimmer
3). I went over her lids with Bm Pro's Eyeshadow base in 'Light' & blended it into her crease
4). In her crease i blended Casabella's eyeshadow in 'Navajo Brown' to add definition & depth to her eye area
5). In the inner corner to 3/4 of her lids i used a mix of MAC's Eyeshadows in 'Paradisco' & 'Expensive Pink' & for the outer 1/4 of her lid, i used a mix of MAC's Eyeshadows in 'Carbon' & 'Fig 1'
6). I lined her upper lashline with Casabella's Indelible Gel Eyeliner in 'INK' & applied KISS by I-Envy lashes in 'Au Naturale 02 - KPE 09'
7). On her lower lashes,i went in with Jordana's Easyliner Eyeliner in 'Midnight Blue'

 For her Lips -

1). I lined 3/4 of her lips with Jordana's Lip Pencil in 'Plum' & blended with my finger
2). I filled in the inner lower lip with Jordana's Lipstick in 'Barely Pink' (A Baby Pink Color with Shimmer in it)
3). I filled her entire upper lip and perimeter of her lower lip with Black Opal's Lipstick in 'Congo Pink' (A Fuscia Pink Color just like what you see in my Logo)
4). I blended both lip colors with Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lipgloss in 'Sugar High' - That's my HG clear lipgloss right there *wink*

So try it out & i would be delighted to see what you were able to come up with. Have a Fun & memorable Holiday - sitpretty412@yahoo.com

Bridal Feature : Abi

Hey Pretties,

Of all the brides i've had to work on,i've never been soo excited as i was when Abi contacted me & said i would be travelling to Akure, Ondo State for her wedding. Truth is i love to travel and learn about new places & customs and of course take my brand name to new places.

Abi who doesn't reside in Nigeria didn't get to meet me till 2days before her Big Day. Thank God for the Blackberry,it's been a very wonderful business tool.

So armed with my tools alongside my dear friend Abisoye of BALL EVENTS,who happens to have been her Wedding Planner and Decorator, we hit the road. In my heavily pregnant state and hers as well, speeding was to be done with extreme caution & God was merciful to us. A supposed 4-hour journey became 5hours without a stop-over to Pee(A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.)
Tired Abisoye
So the 1st day came and i went for a colorful look and i played the role of a Facial Constructor, lol

Day 2,being an Environmental Saturday had us on the road very early in the morning with me heading to her hotel and guess what happened?? Her hairstylist was nowhere to be seen & didn't call till the bride was well on her way to church(Talk about Unreliable) & so i had the scary challenge of playing that role. I hope i did a good job?

At the end of the day i played the roles of Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist & photographer, yay!! I was in very high spirits(i was going home) and so i had excess energy. So for those who wonder how working outside your base can be, i hope this post gave you a hint of what you should be prepared for.

LOTD : Walking on the Dark Side

Hey Pretties,

Are you daring? Would you like to wear this look often? Don't know how to go about it?

To further buttress the point of how black & pigmented the 'Mabrook' Eyeshadow i reviewed in my last post is,i decided to do this look for you.

I'm a firm believer in Smokey eyes blended beautifully & as much as i love the look,i've never tried it in Black before.I Love My Purple anyday anytime.

I chose this lipcolor as i had bought it for over a year & hadn't come close to trying it on anyone.Plus,i really haven't rocked dark eyes & dark lips before.

Products Used -

Face
 MaryKay Medium-coverage Liquid Foundation in 507 & 607
Milani Mineral Powder in Medium
MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Dark
Sleek Contour Kit in Medium (To contour my cheeks & nose slightly & i used the highlighter on the bulb of my nose)

Eyes
Mabrook Matt Eyeshadow in Black
MAC Matte Eyeshadow in Carbon
BmPro Matte Eyeshadow in Moccassin

Lips
Jordana Lippencil in Cherry
MAC Creme Lipstick in Dark Side

Love the Look?? I hope the pictures guide you on how best to rock it.

Product Review : Mabrook Matte Eyeshadow

Hey Pretties,

As promised, this is my 1st review from my Bm Pro Purchase. A year ago,my dear friend Moji of MoMakeovers who happens to be a very devoted Bm Pro customer, brought my attention to this particular product & called it the Blackest Matte Shadow she's ever come across.

And my search for the blackest black over the years led me to MAC's 'Carbon' Eyeshadow & Urban Decay's 'Blackout' Eyeshadow. So,when i got the chance to get some at the BmPro Sale Event at 1/2 Price,i didn't hesitate and from the pictures below, you might not have come across anything this black.

Ingredients : Talc, Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Kaoline, Propyl Paraben, Mineral Oil, Lanolin & Iron Oxide
R - Blended Swatch
Verdict :
- If you have a challenge blending eyeshadows, this eyeshadow isn't for you.
- It's severely pigmented (i mean, it's like, you can't imagine) & it took more than soap and water to get it off my hand. This means a little goes a veryyyyyyy long way.
- Like most eyeshadows, it leaves some fall-out. So ensure you tap your brush off before applying / ensure you have some form of security so it doesn't ruin your makeup.

Have you used any product darker & more pigmented than this? Pls share with me

BM PRO SALE HAUL!!

Hey Pretties,

Don't you just love the word SALEEEEEE?!! I DO. So, last Sunday, a makeup artist cum friend,Osamu of Beauty Matters, informed me of the BM Pro Sale Event where most items were 50% off. I wasn't too keen on dropping by because i had attended one and honestly most of what i wanted had been bought off the shelves & some were a little pricey(hides face).

For those who haven't heard of Bm Pro, it's a Company owned by an Uber-Talented & Highly sought after Nigerian-based Bridal & Fashion Makeup Artist, Mrs Banke Meshida-Lawal.

My Haul
So in the aim of getting Osamu's order(she's based in Benin),i decided to go there as early as 11am,which was when the event was expected to start & i still didn't get most of what i wanted :-(

Long story short,i came across some shadows that were sold at a very unbelievable deal (500naira a pop :-D). If you've been using Bm Pro makeup in your kit, you'll know that was the best deal ever.

I also reached for some Longlasting glosses that dry matte as well as my 'Auburn' Brow Powder which i have absolutely come to love. And finally,my favorite wine lipstick i had searched for for the last 3years eventually was found.

I got to take a picture with Banke, take a peek at samples of her new product line & the food served was delicious. Thank You Banke for taking care of us *wink*

Expect a review of the products soon as i have to have used them a couple of times before telling you about them.

Product Review : Zaron Lipliner pencils in 'Cappuccino' & 'Prune Juice'

Hey Pretties,

Its been pretty busy the last couple of weeks & in between Bridal assignments, i spend my days of late resting. I'll share why soon ;-)

So when i visited the Zaron studio a few months ago to check out the products they had to offer,i decided to go for colors i knew i didn't have in my already bulky pencil organizer. Hence, my settling for these 2 colors.

'Cappuccino' is your regular medium brown color, while 'Prune Juice' is  a lovely medium purple shade (By now,i'm sure you're aware that i love purple). Prune Juice is what i used in this post : Clean Beauty
& Cappuccino is what i used in this post : Keeping It Simple .

They both apply easily and are easy to blend in with your fingers or a lip brush. They can be topped with any light or dark color of your choice as you can see in both posts, where i applied the same lipstick over them.

Verdict : They are both great products & i definitely will repurchase.

Myth Buster : Basic Eyeshadow Application!

Hey Pretties,

Permit me to say : This isn't makeup school! But if this post will help educate someone, i would then be glad. I love to blog about my experiences & most times,i meet women who have been wearing eyeshadow for years, but don't know where to put what.

Some women have even beautified people for years, lol & can't describe the process in words. The funniest is when a young lady approaches me wanting to get some education and states : I KNOW HOW TO DO MAKEUP OO.

When i then ask for proof of that statement, wahala(trouble) begins, hence this post.

EYE-MAKEUP PARTS

The above labelled picture i hope will help you understand the terms below better:

- HEAD OF BROW : This is where your brows should begin.

- ARCH OF BROW : This is the highest point of your brows.

- TAIL OF BROW : This is where your brows should end.

- BROWBONE : Both MATTE & SHIMMER / FROST colors in light hues can be placed here, but its most flattering to place MATTE colors here, except you are very skilled.

- CREASE :  This is the sunken part of your eye, where MATTE colors in dark hues are preferably placed.

- INNER CORNER OF THE EYE : Both MATTE & SHIMMER / FROST colors in light & dark hues can be placed here (The picture above demonstrates that).

- LID / CENTER OF LID : Both MATTE & SHIMMER / FROST colors in any hue can be placed here.

- OUTER CORNER OF THE EYE : Outer part of the eye, where MATTE colors in darker hues are preferably placed.

Hopefully, your eye makeup application should improve from today. Please feel free to send me pictures of your progress : sitpretty412@yahoo.com

Pretty Makeover : Clean Beauty!

Hey Pretties,

Ejiro happens to be a current student of mine & as part of the training i give,i teach DIY where i help you identify the strongest features of your face & show you how to make them look stunning.

Ejiro's idea of makeup (The Way She Came That Morning)

I believe a makeup artist/any woman in the beauty industry should be able to project her services just by the way she appears . I mean, you can't sell Spa beauty treatments to someone when you have awful & scarred skin & expect good business.

That aside,we began the class with a proper foundation & concealer routine. I Shared the importance of applying makeup on very clean skin as well as the effectiveness of Primers. You can judge by her picture below the difference doing so makes.

A Proper Base Laid Out

Then, i went ahead to show her how to bring out the eyes, lips & face without a Myriad of wild looking-colors. Most clients i've met believe the louder the colors, the more work you've done. I BEG TO DIFFER!!

Product Review : ALMAY Eye Makeup Remover Pads!

Hey Pretties,

For a while now, i have been using this product on myself & on my clients and my love for the product is why i'm sharing it with you.

Have u ever had to wear liners and mascara & had difficulty taking off the product after a long day & carry about the residue when you're tired of tugging at your eyes and later itching your eyes repeatedly? Pls forgive my rambling, not taking off your eye makeup is the likely culprit.

Makeup Remover Pads (and not Baby Wipes) are the way to go and are no different from using a Makeup Remover liquid on dry cotton pads. But with makeup remover pads, the pads are pre-soaked in eye makeup remover liquid & you have no lint sticking to your lashes.I can bet your eyes will thank you for it. .

 According to ALMAY,
- The pads remove makeup without any irritation (I Agree)
- They leave no greasy residue
- They are Hypoallergenic (means - It has a decreased/lesser tendency to cause Allergies)
- They are suitable for Contact-lens wearers (which i happen to be)

To show you how effective they are, i made swatches of 3 lipsticks on my hand & then in one swipe, took them off with the makeup remover pad.

L - Lipstick swatches ; R - Swatches removed in one swipe
I hope i have been able to convince you about it's efficacy. Now, you have no excuse not to take off all your eye makeup.

Remember, if you can't find this product, you can use any generic oil-free makeup remover pad! Pls feel free to leave your comments or send me a mail : sitpretty412@yahoo.com
