WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE A MAKEUP ARTIST FOR YOUR WEDDING!!

This i agree is a very delicate topic when it comes to Brides & their 'BIG DAY' & everyone is most certainly entitled to their opinions whether right or misguided. Most brides pick their Makeup Artist based on COST,POPULARITY,TALENT,PROXIMITY,EXPERIENCE & even BIASE!!

But hey,it's your Much-awaited fairytale day & you have envisaged that ideal look & then you hire that Makeup Artist & Lo & behold, you are disappointed by what you see in the mirror.Noone else can be blamed except you which is why you should make this choice carefully & i intend to guide you.

Why the fuss about a makeup Artist:
  • Wedding Makeup Is Complicated: Every minute detail comes into play because Pictures Last a Lifetime
  • Longevity of your Makeup is important: Every bride desires her makeup to last a lot longer than it would when she applies her makeup & a makeup artist should possess those tools.
  • Makeup is expensive: If every bride has to get all the tools a Professional uses to achieve a more polished look, believe me when i say that you would spend a lot more than you would have paid the artist & so,why bother.
  • The last thing you want to worry about is whether you are late to church or not.
QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN HIRING YOUR MAKEUP ARTIST:

  • What training/Education they have
  • How long they have been in the industry
  • Pictures of her past brides/clients
  • If it's a full time/part-time career
  • Who their Favorite/least favorite bride was
  • If she personally will attend to you on your day/if she'll be sending her staff over(This i've found out is very upsetting to most Nigerian Brides. The truth is they hire a Makeup artist with hopes that she will personally attend to them.                                                                                                                     But if that makeup artist is most sought after, there is every likelihood that he/she might not be able to except you booked them ages ahead. In that case, book him/her 6 months prior)
  • His/her fees(Compared to the ones you know about, are their prices reasonable & are you getting value for your money)
  • Will a Trial Look be done on you(You should have an idea of how you will look on your Big DaySome artists charge for Trials & others don't,but get booked after the said trial,SO ASK!!!)
Once you have gotten to know more about your Makeup Artist, this should inform your decisions whether to employ their services or not. The truth is that you are paying for their services,so you have the right to ask as many questions as possible. They say THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT(which is true to some degree).

For more help, you can ask: FRIENDS,YOUR WEDDING PLANNER or PHOTOGRAPHER

WHAT YOUR ARTIST EXPECTS OF YOU:
  • To get in touch as early as possible ,so as to book you down!
  • 1-uniterrupted hour to work his/her magic(Away from Bridemaids & Parents Fussing)
  • Cleanse & moisturize your face prior to the artist's arrival
  • Discuss all extra applications(Bridesmaids,Maid of Honor,Mother of the Bride & Bride's Change of Clothes) ahead & conclude on fees.
I hope these few points have helped all prospective brides.HAve a Great Day!!

ROYAL DIADEM!!

So,i was recently invited to speak to Prospective Brides & do a few makeovers at a Seminar organized to help guide brides when it comes to hiring a Wedding Planner & of course, a Makeup Artist & thought i should share my thoughts with this blog's readers.

Top Wedding Planner,Funke Bucknor-Obruthe was invited to allay fears most brides have when it comes to seeking most needed help from a Wedding Planner.Funke was utterly able to inform & suggest ways brides who can't afford the fees for Full Wedding Planners. She suggested getting a D-day Coordinator, which is cheaper & also needed.

So,my time came after spending an hour doing some quick makeovers which to me,was still not fast enough, but i'm getting there. So,here are a few makeovers & i'll put up a post on what you need to know before hiring a makeup artist.

LOOK OF THE WEEK!

So this is my very first Look of the week(LOTW),it's all in my bid to have a cliche, lol.so,pls oblige me.So i did this Look last sunday & it was just a fresh look with a pop of colour applied in a subtle way.Im a fan of nude lips & im particular about textures.

For my eyes,i used :
UDPP in SIN as a base to prevent creasing,
Upper Lid: A Shimmery Purple E/S(3/4 of my lid), a Matte Black E/S(Outer 1/4) & a Warm Brown E/S(Crease), Black Liquid Liner &

Eyebrows: Jordana Eyeliner Pencil in Coffee Bean & Set with Some Brow-defining Powder!!

Lower Lid: Some of the Shimmery E/S, a Black Liner(Water Line) lightly smudged with a Matte Black Eyeshdow & Blended towards the upper lid & Revlon's Defining Mascara.

Face: Facial Primer(Smashbox),Liquid foundation(Mary Kay in 507 & 600), Milani Concealer(Medium Shade),Black Opal Translucent Oil Blocking Powder

Lips: A Neutral lip Pencil to alter imperfections in my lip color, a Brandless Lipcolor in Tainted & Goddess & Finished off with a 3D Lip Gloss which i absolutely Love.

I finished off with a light contour to my cheeks & Black Opal's Mosaic Bronzing Powder to add some warmth to my face.

I hope you like it & the key is basically in the choice of Products, use of good Brushes & Ability to Blend.

Enjoy!!
