HARMATTAN FEVER!!!

Hey guys, its the eve of the New Year  If you are in Nigeria & other West-African Countries(From what i learnt in Geography, the Dusty & very Dry Winds move from the North[Sahara] to South[Gulf of Guinea] during the Harmattan season).

So for whoever is Familiar with this Time of The Year,You'll Know that it comes with Dryness in all forms,From Ur Hair,to ur Skin,Ur Lips,Every Part of ur Body suffers from the Dryness, including your Nasal Passage.

So in order to deal with the challenges that come with this kind of weather, you need to MOISTURISE,MOISTURISE & MOISTURIZE SOME MORE.Here are a few tips:

HAIR: As much as possible, you need more of leave-in moisturizers that leave little or no residue on your hair. This last bit is because you will find that your hair needs more moisture than it did previous weeks/months ago & if you use any heavy moisturizers that are waxy or very oily, you will have loads of build-up & you will need to wash your hair every often.

HUMAN HAIR WEAVES: Though you can't see this, the weave you have on,has the capacity to accumulate dust even more than your own hair & so in this crucial time, you will need to wash your hair once a week, depending on how long you have them on for.Your special care routines still apply.

LIPS: These have the tendency to get chapped easily & the key to keeping them extra moisturized is having a Lip Balm(Vaseline,Chap Stick,Chapet & the likes) worn beneath your Lipstick. This will keep your Lips moisturised as you go about & prevent Chapped Lips, which could be very painful at this time.

For deep conditioning & an overnight care, you can reach for your Shea Butter. These will stay longer than your Lip Balm & hence, why i suggested you use it at night.Moisturizing Lip Goss containing Vitamin E is also a very good option.

SKIN: For Black Skin, there is every likelihood that after mositurizing & are hit by the full Glare of the Harmattan, you skin happens to still look very dry. To avoid this happening, you can mix a little bit of your EVOO(Extra Virgin Olive Oil) or your Baby Oil with your Moisturizer. That way, even when your moisturizer is absorbed by your skin, your Skin still has that Moisturized Look.

MAKEUP: For those with Oily Skin, this is a very fun time for you because Shine is reduced. But that doesnt mean you shouldn't moisturize before applying makeup. There is every tendency that you break out if your skin isnt getting the amount of moisture it needs. SO please, please & please,MOISTURIZE!!

See you all in 2011 & be ready to see a newer & better looking Blog.Cheers All!

HOW TO SPOT FAKE MAC PRODUCTS!!

Hi Guys, how have u all been?Im aware that as the Holidays draw closer,we all feel the need to splurge on Clothes,Shoes,Gifts & Makeup.Something a sister told me,made me feel the need to touch this subject.

Undoubtedly,MAC products are the most popular products you hear about,Both on the internet & in the market, but most people aren't aware that there are FAKE MAC products out there. When i heard that a MAC 88-colour Palette was sold to that sister,i knew i had to speak up quickly, because she got the product for a Lump sum, only to find out that it was fake, the contents were Chalky & Powdery.

Same way i hear people proudly say they sell MAC 24-brush sets & i wonder where people placed their integrity, but as i've come to understand, they just aren't well informed.

It could be most painful when you spend the same amount of money on the fake and find out you paid that much for a less than $1 product, i've bought one fake and i vouched it would never EVER, happen to me again.

FACTs you should know:

FACT 1:

MAC makes no such palette. The only palettes that MAC makes are empty palettes which are then costumized by filling them with refill pans.MAC makes the 4-eyeshadow & 15-eyeshadow empty Eyeshadow palettes & the 6-Blush Empty Palettes. They also have readily selected 4-pan shadow palettes & 6-pan palettes from the various holiday Collections.

MAC also makes the Individual Eyeshadow pots & Pigments that are readily available in all MAC outlets, Pro stores, et al.They all look something like this:

15-pan & 4-pan Refill Palettes (Here's mine :  My Eyeshadow pallette)

Seasonal MAC Collections

Single Eyeshadow Pots

MAC Pigments(which are highly concentrated loose colour powders that contain ingredients to help it adhere to the skin.)

This is what the Fakes look like:

If you are familiar with the Coastal Scents Palettes, this is an exact replica with a different name printed on it:

Notice that this particular one is similar to the way the Sleek palettes look:

Another thing to note is that MAC products are never sold cheap in any way.Even if they are having some form of Sales, you usually get about $3-$5 off the retail price. Agreed they are pricey, but with them you get value for what you paid for. Its also good to do your research before purchasing any beauty product. That way you stay informed & avoid spending loads of cash on the fake.

FACT 2: MAC makes no such thing as a 10,20,30-brush set ooo(As Yorubas love to emphasize). They sell their makeup brushes individually or in special sets  & they look something like this:

MAC 'Pret - a - Porter' LIMITED EDITION Brush Set

MAC 'Heirloom' LIMITED EDITION 5-FACE Brush Set

MAC 'Heirloom' LIMITED EDITION 5-EYE Brush Set
The Fake MAC brushes look something like this:

Your best bet would be to go to a proper MAC store, MAC online store or check the Duty-Free shops at airports when you travel. Avoid buying MAC products on Ebay and other funny sites, because no1 will be held accountable for your error of judgement.

I hope this article proves helpful to all my sisters out there who just loooooooooove Makeup or happen to be makeup artists and don't know.Have a Great Christmas in advance.

WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE A MAKEUP ARTIST FOR YOUR WEDDING!!

This i agree is a very delicate topic when it comes to Brides & their 'BIG DAY' & everyone is most certainly entitled to their opinions whether right or misguided. Most brides pick their Makeup Artist based on COST,POPULARITY,TALENT,PROXIMITY,EXPERIENCE & even BIASE!!

But hey,it's your Much-awaited fairytale day & you have envisaged that ideal look & then you hire that Makeup Artist & Lo & behold, you are disappointed by what you see in the mirror.Noone else can be blamed except you which is why you should make this choice carefully & i intend to guide you.

Why the fuss about a makeup Artist:
  • Wedding Makeup Is Complicated: Every minute detail comes into play because Pictures Last a Lifetime
  • Longevity of your Makeup is important: Every bride desires her makeup to last a lot longer than it would when she applies her makeup & a makeup artist should possess those tools.
  • Makeup is expensive: If every bride has to get all the tools a Professional uses to achieve a more polished look, believe me when i say that you would spend a lot more than you would have paid the artist & so,why bother.
  • The last thing you want to worry about is whether you are late to church or not.
QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN HIRING YOUR MAKEUP ARTIST:

  • What training/Education they have
  • How long they have been in the industry
  • Pictures of her past brides/clients
  • If it's a full time/part-time career
  • Who their Favorite/least favorite bride was
  • If she personally will attend to you on your day/if she'll be sending her staff over(This i've found out is very upsetting to most Nigerian Brides. The truth is they hire a Makeup artist with hopes that she will personally attend to them.                                                                                                                     But if that makeup artist is most sought after, there is every likelihood that he/she might not be able to except you booked them ages ahead. In that case, book him/her 6 months prior)
  • His/her fees(Compared to the ones you know about, are their prices reasonable & are you getting value for your money)
  • Will a Trial Look be done on you(You should have an idea of how you will look on your Big DaySome artists charge for Trials & others don't,but get booked after the said trial,SO ASK!!!)
Once you have gotten to know more about your Makeup Artist, this should inform your decisions whether to employ their services or not. The truth is that you are paying for their services,so you have the right to ask as many questions as possible. They say THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT(which is true to some degree).

For more help, you can ask: FRIENDS,YOUR WEDDING PLANNER or PHOTOGRAPHER

WHAT YOUR ARTIST EXPECTS OF YOU:
  • To get in touch as early as possible ,so as to book you down!
  • 1-uniterrupted hour to work his/her magic(Away from Bridemaids & Parents Fussing)
  • Cleanse & moisturize your face prior to the artist's arrival
  • Discuss all extra applications(Bridesmaids,Maid of Honor,Mother of the Bride & Bride's Change of Clothes) ahead & conclude on fees.
I hope these few points have helped all prospective brides.HAve a Great Day!!

ROYAL DIADEM!!

So,i was recently invited to speak to Prospective Brides & do a few makeovers at a Seminar organized to help guide brides when it comes to hiring a Wedding Planner & of course, a Makeup Artist & thought i should share my thoughts with this blog's readers.

Top Wedding Planner,Funke Bucknor-Obruthe was invited to allay fears most brides have when it comes to seeking most needed help from a Wedding Planner.Funke was utterly able to inform & suggest ways brides who can't afford the fees for Full Wedding Planners. She suggested getting a D-day Coordinator, which is cheaper & also needed.

So,my time came after spending an hour doing some quick makeovers which to me,was still not fast enough, but i'm getting there. So,here are a few makeovers & i'll put up a post on what you need to know before hiring a makeup artist.

So this is my very first Look of the week(LOTW),it's all in my bid to have a cliche, lol.so,pls oblige me.So i did this Look last sunday & it was just a fresh look with a pop of colour applied in a subtle way.Im a fan of nude lips & im particular about textures.

For my eyes,i used :
UDPP in SIN as a base to prevent creasing,
Upper Lid: A Shimmery Purple E/S(3/4 of my lid), a Matte Black E/S(Outer 1/4) & a Warm Brown E/S(Crease), Black Liquid Liner &

Eyebrows: Jordana Eyeliner Pencil in Coffee Bean & Set with Some Brow-defining Powder!!

Lower Lid: Some of the Shimmery E/S, a Black Liner(Water Line) lightly smudged with a Matte Black Eyeshdow & Blended towards the upper lid & Revlon's Defining Mascara.

Face: Facial Primer(Smashbox),Liquid foundation(Mary Kay in 507 & 600), Milani Concealer(Medium Shade),Black Opal Translucent Oil Blocking Powder

Lips: A Neutral lip Pencil to alter imperfections in my lip color, a Brandless Lipcolor in Tainted & Goddess & Finished off with a 3D Lip Gloss which i absolutely Love.

I finished off with a light contour to my cheeks & Black Opal's Mosaic Bronzing Powder to add some warmth to my face.

THE RIGHT BASE!!

This Blog is intended to help people who have questions to ask & often don't get them answered so i hope these posts help.

When i say 'BASE',i mean your Foundation.I find that most women don't wear foundation for the fear of having their faces feel heavy.I agree once in a while, you should let your skin breathe. But foundations truly arent heavy if applied right & besides that, foundations do a lot more as stated below:

  • Evens out your complexion
  • Acts as a base for your Powder
  • Covers imperfections & scars
  • Gives you a more radiant complexion
  • Gives the appearance of flawless skin
  • Masks under eye circles depending on how intense they are
Foundations come in various textures,formulas & consistencies - LIQUID,CREAM,STICKS,MINERAL POWDER,CREAM TO POWDER,MOUSSES,SPRAYS & EVEN TINTED MOISTURIZERS.

LIQUIDS :

These are packaged in tubes, bottles & dispensers for easy application. They are top on my list because they are my absolute favorite. Most women love this formulation because it's fast & easy to apply, but can leave streaks if not properly blended or if you have 'Correctly' applied an 'Incorrect' shade, lol(Please check my previous post on how to get better results during application)

They come in Medium-coverage & full coverage formulas & every makeup brand makes them for Normal,Dry,Oily to Combination Skin.

CREAMS:

These come either in Retractable stick form or in little pots. They have the dual capacity of Foundation & concealer, meaning that they have the best coverage available. They are created for dry skin, but of course, with th eright knowledge of how to apply, oily skin can also enjoy its coverage. Its also quick & easy to apply.

MINERAL POWDER:

These actually come in Powder form & are lighter than the liquid version. They can be dusted on with brushes, but i know most women prefer the powder puffs(hmm, please get brushes).

This formulation gives u a barely-there feel, but could dry out your face.so,it is mostly better for women with oily skin & because research has been carried out extensively on mineral makeup. They are said to be GOOD for the skin. So,try it today.

CREAM TO POWDER:

This is created mainly for oily skin & is intended to help keep skin looking matte, but may be very drying for people with dry skin. It's also a good alternative to liquids.

MOUSSES:

This i truly havent tried, but will let you know when i do.They are cream foundation with a 'Whipped' consistency. They claim to be the ideal formula in the sense that they apply as smoothly as the liquid does, but gives a finishing look resembling that of having used powder.Make sure that if you have to try this formula, you get the 'Matte' variant because it might leave oily skin looking even oilier.

It gives medium coverage, meaning that if you have lots of imperfections to hide, this is certainly not for you. It's also great for older skin as they do not settle into fine lines as opposed to most.

SPRAYS :

This works with the same concept Airbrush makeup does.Since it comes in a can, like any aerosol product,it should be shaken properly before spraying. You can spray unto a sponge or your skin.

TINTED MOISTURIZER :

This is simply a moisturizer that has a hint of color to it.It gives light coverage for days when you want a natural looking finish.so,please do not expect coverage of the liquid or cream consistencies.

But guess what,it makes a fantastic option for people with annoyingly dry skin due to it's moisturizing qualities.Older skin would love this as they also do not settle into fine lines & most have SPF protection.

The first key when purchasing a product isn't in the Brand or Price, though brand & reviews come into play most times. The key is in matching your skin & foundation, not just matching your skin, but matching your neck as well with your face. This helps to prevent a harsh line of demarcation between your neck & face. After you must have done this, you have other things you should consider.

With regards consistency & textures, this should guide you:

GOOD SKIN with Barely any scars: Sheer Liquid Foundation that applies easily

OILY/ACNE-PRONE SKIN : Oil control Liquid Foundation/Foundations formulated for Oily skin.

SKIN WITH FEW SPOTS: A full coverage Liquid Foundation/cream to powder Formulation would suffice.

HYPERPIGMENTED SKIN/SKIN WITH LOTS OF ACNE SCARS: A stick/cream foundation would be ideal. When blended properly,it leaves a seamless finish you would love.

Word of note: BLEND BLEND BLEND,like it's no (wo)man's business.

If you are about to buy your Foundation without being able to try it on,please go where such services are rendered for free. For tropic regions like ours where the intensity of the sun changes over time,it's very likely that at a point, your foundation might need to be changed.

So a key advice is to use Sunscreen lotions with SPF(Sun-Protection Factor) as much as you can or better still get a foundation that has SPF protection.

Have fun & if you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a mail - sitpretty412@yahoo.com & PLEASE leave a comment!!

OUR ARTILLERY!!!

Most People don't know this, but the most important tool of any Makeup Artist is their set of brushes & not their foundations or powders.Armed with the right brushes,we are capable of doing wonders.I liken myself to a painter because our tools are similar. What amazes me about brushes are the fact that they give precision to the finishing look you are trying to achieve.

The closest encounter most people ever had with makeup brushes were those little brushes that accompanied fashion fair blushes. My mum had one & when applied there was the harsh line of blush which at the time i felt was the most beautiful cosmetic item ever invented.Thank God for knowledge, lol.

Makeup brushes are made up of fibres[Synthetic or Natural(Goat,Ox or Squirrel Hairs)] & a solid handle(Plastic or wood) which enables you have a firm grip during application. Ideally a good makeup brush has fibres which are soft to the touch & of course,on the skin. The key is investing in quality & not quantity.

Anyway, i want to share with you the Staple pieces of Brushes any woman should have. I have about 40Brushes & counting,so you don't have to be like me. All a woman needs for her quick fix are these 5 Major Brushes:

1). Foundation Brush: These are usually made of synthetic fibers/hairs. Of course, there are various new shapes out there but the most commonly available is this shape below. The brush can be used in applying lotions, liquid & cream foundations. It's made of synthetic fibres because it has a longer life span & are much easier to clean than the natural hairs.

2). Powder Brush: These are made of natural hair fibres & allow for seamless coverage of the face with loose powder, pressed powder or bronzer. These come as long brushes or in the Short Kabuki Form & because of the fibres they are made of, they should be well cared for by washing every other week to prevent the growth of bacteria.

3). Eyeshadow Brush: These brushes also made with Natural Fibres are very handy in applying colours to the eyelid & helps in ensuring well blended results. It can also be used to highlight the browbone

4). Blush Brush: For lightly sweeping blush colour on the apples of the cheeks. This is just a smaller version of a Powder Brush. It can also be used to apply bronzer to more defined areas of the face.

5). Lip Brush: Lipbrushes help to apply lip sticks & glosses with precision. Some come with covers & others don't.It can also be used in applying concealer, wink!!

The key is in keeping these brushes clean & trying as much as possible not to share brushes. If you have to share brushes, please wash them often with some warm water & baby/mild shampoo & allow to air dry by laying them flat on a piece of towel. I personally do a lot more than this because i have to work on clients often & i'm armed always with clean brushes .

Most brands sell Mini-Brush sets which are handy & have these key elements. So,treat yourself to a good set of Brushes.

Have fun & if you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a mail - sitpretty412@yahoo.com & PLEASE leave a comment!!

D-I-Y SKIN TEST!!

Hi Guys, a couple of people have asked why i havent done any Makeup How-tos yet. I guess i'm just waiting for the right time, but in the interim, here's something i hope you all find interesting.

Many Ladies i have met have claimed they have oily skin even when i later discover that they have dry skin. Some even complain that they use makeup & after a few hours they look like they put nothing on. Anyway, there are several skin types namely:

  • Normal Skin
  • Oily Skin
  • Dry Skin
  • Combination Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Hyperpigmented Skin
So to know if you fall into any of the above classifications, here's a test called the TISSUE TEST. It's very simple & takes about 30mins-1hour.

STEPS:
  1. Clean/wash your face & apply no product or just do this after having a bath.
  2. Get a 1-ply or 2-ply tissue
  3. Blot your skin(Chin,Center of cheeks,Outer cheeks,Centre of forehead,Outer Forehead & Nose)
WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Do you see oily residues in the area of the nose & forehead?

Then you may have Combination Skin.

Do you see oily residue everywhere?

Then you may have Oily Skin.

You do not see any oil at all,but see flaky skin residue.

Then your skin is Dry.

No oil or flaky Skin Residue.

Your skin may be Normal.

PORE SIZE: This matters a lot as well.
SMALL PORES = DRY SKIN

LARGE & VERY VISIBLE PORES = OILY SKIN

Characteristics to note:

NORMAL (the lucky lot)

You have few or no break outs.

Your skin feels or looks supple with or without moisturizer

You can use any product without irritation.

Your skin tone is even all over.

OILY

You are prone to blemishes, blackheads & white heads.

You have large pores.

Your face is shiny in the t-zone esp. when you wake up.

Foundation wears off after a couple of hours.

USEFUL TIP: (Use an oil-free gel or cleanser - removes oil without dehydrating the skin; Steaming & facials also help)

DRY

Your skin may even flake off if it has not been properly moisturized.

Your skin feels itchy or tight esp. after cleaning.

You made it through adolescence without acne.

Your complexion looks dull.

Useful Tip: (Use a Glycerine soap & Please Moisturize)

COMBINATION

You have medium pores, smooth texture, healthy facial color & a good complexion

Your cheeks feel dry but your t-zone is oily or covered with acne.

You're oily in some areas & dry in others(unbalanced).

You can use products on one side, but the other gets irritated.

Useful Tip : Treat each area of your face with regards to Type.

SENSITIVE

You easily get irritated when you try to 'Extract a Blackhead' OR 'Try some New Makeup Product or creams'.You easily get irritated when you try to extract a blackhead OR try some new makeup product or creams.

You sunburn easily.

You're allergic to certain products.

Your skin is often red when you are exposed to sudden temperature changes.

Useful Tip: (Use hypo-allergenic & fragrance free products OR visit a Dermatologist).

HYPERPIGMENTATION

You have dark spots from bugs, bites, pimples that remain stagnant.

You freckle easily in the sun.

You have dark moles/growths.

Useful Tip: (Identify what skin group you fall into & please visit a Dermatologist)

With Regards makeup not lasting as Long as you want, I recommend a good Facial Primer which acts as a barrier between your face & the makeup & creates a good base for your foundation.

Also, i discovered People have misinterpreted what a TONER means, they actually buy it woth the intention of getting lighter skin, but the product called an ASTRIGENT is actually an Alcohol-containing type of toner, meaning that there are also Non-alcoholic Ones.

So, here are benefits of a Good Facial Toner:
  • Removes Dirt & Makeup Residue
  • Complements the cleansing process.
  • Makes skin feel fresh & clean.
  • Refines pores & tightens them temporarily.
  • Removes excess oil from the skin.
  • Increases Blood Circulation
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines.
  • Promotes the sloughing of dead skin cells.
  • Reduces oil secretion.
  • Improves skin tone.
Finally,

** Include the use of a GOOD Sunscreen Lotion in your beauty regimen & remember the Higher the SPF, the greater the protection you get.

** Please drink lots of water, that can't be emphasized enough.

** Get plenty of rest. Ask ex-beauty Queen Nike Soleye about this part, because i concur!!

** And as much as possible, let your skin breathe, you don't have to use heavy makeup all the time, you know urself, lol!!

NIGERIA AT 50 - GOOD PEOPLE,GREAT NATION!!!

Its another Year & Independence Celebration in Nigeria & as much as people have various things to say, i believe since it's my blog,im also free to air my views.

Never will you hear me say anything bad because i know that the Words i speak are Truth & Life & making negative statements furthermore does one no good.

We have come a long way & there have been good & bad times in the country. Been a Christian,i have been taught to take every matter that isn't right to the Throne of Mercy in Prayer & to do my part no matter where i have been placed.

So one word of Prayer i made yesterday for Nigeria was:

THE LAND IS INDEED GREEN,NIGERIA,YOU CAN ONLY GET BETTER,RICHER,MORE PROSPEROUS & FILLED WITH MEN WHO ARE AFTER GOD'S HEART.
NIGERIA,NATIONS SHALL CALL U BLESSSED.YOU WILL NOT SUFFER DESTRUCTION,THAT WHICH GOD HAS SAID CONCERNING YOU SHALL COME TO PASS & THAT WHICH IS YOURS SHALL NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU. AMEN,AMEN,AMEN!!...

By the way, someone made a comment to me a day or two ago that i am always motivated by anything 'CHURCHY' or 'GODDY' Though i know what she meant, but hey, thats the only Reason the Universe is still Being Held. Who am i,without having a Solid Anchorage??

Anyway, to all Nigerians near & far, the only way things can get better, is if we all play our parts & contribute our little quota wherever we are placed.

As Pastor Sam said today at the PLATFORM, rather than dwell on things that have happened in the last 50 years, we should think ahead towards the next 50years & walk in the direction of the Nation's Progress & Prosperity.

May Nigeria Be Favourable For Us All,Amen!!

Ps: Though i couldn't be at the PLATFORM, i was able to watch the Live Broadcast on TV & would keep you all posted with the Nuggets of Wisdom i learnt!!

Much Love
xoxo

COLOR STAY LIPS!!!

It’s a thing of concern when you wear your Favourite lipstick & would love to have it look as good in pictures as they did when you looked in the mirror while doing your makeup, but lo & behold, it just doesn’t.

Well, here are a few steps to help you achieve long lasting lip colour even after eating, drinking or even just talking.

Smoothen out your lips (Exfoliate)

You can achieve this either by

1). Applying Vaseline on your lips (If you have chapped/Flaky Lips) for a few minutes before hitting the shower & then, with an old toothbrush, brush the surface of your lips gently, rinse off & leave to dry.

2). Apply a little Vaseline/your favourite lip balm for a few minutes & with a warm face towel, wipe off the excess & leave to dry

3). Use a wet face towel to scrub your lips with Granulated Sugar & rinse off

4). Use a Lip Exfoliator.

Perfect Your Lip shade

I guess you’re aware that most ladies have varying shades of Lips, from Pink, to Dark Brown to Multi-colored. You definitely don’t want those imperfections showing beneath your Lip colour & altering the result you wanted.

This can be done using just a teeny bit of your foundation (Liquid most preferably), but if you don’t have that, then a little of your cream foundation would work splendid.

Line & Fill in your Lip

You can do this with a Neutral Colored Lip pencil. Yeah, I know there are certain rules (Lining d lip with the same colour as the lipstick), but really I believe Makeup is Fun & you should have fun doing it. IT’S A RISK WORTH TAKING!!

Fill in with colour

You can do this with your Lipstick colour of choice either straight from the tube (so far as you don’t share it with someone else) or professionally, with a Lip Brush (This allows for precise placement of product & of course you get to use less product at the end of the day)

Blot & Reapply

Here’s where you want to go easy & not overdo things. With a 1 or 2 –ply tissue, blot your Lip colour & then, reapply the Lip colour. This should do it, but I’m aware that most Nigerian Ladies aren’t satisfied until they have covered the entire lip colour wt Shiny gooey Lip-gloss(please, a little goes a long way, literally).

Seriously, there’s no way anything glossy lasts very long. But if you want to give your Lips a bit of dimension, then, you can place some gloss at the centre of your Lips.

NEVER SAY NEVER!!

So we all know about the fashion Seasons & how certain colors are in this year & out the next. Im a strong advocate of these very 2 colors that never go out of season & don't laugh when i say BLACK & WHITE. Certain people might not agree with me,but these 2 colors worn in variety of Shapes & Textures give u a WOW Factor anyday. BEIGES also fall into this category as Nudes are also very much in.

Of course, these colours can be worn alone or in mixed fabrics adding a hint of light or can be paired with different colored bottoms.

We all know Grey is a combination of White & Black which definitely goes well with either of the 2 colors as shown below.

One thing i always say is as Fashion Forward as you might be, we all have varying bodytypes & certain pieces of clothing that look great on Miss A might turn out wrongly on Miss B.This also applies to Makeup & Colors of Clothing.

Pls remember,Dark Colors give a Slimming effect, so if you know you have areas of your body you wouldn't like eyes falling on, then, please avoid wearing white or light colored clothes on such areas.

Have fun & if you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a mail - sitpretty412@yahoo.com & PLEASE leave a comment!!

HAIRSTYLES FOR THE SQUARE FACE SHAPE!!!

Wonder what Funke Bucknor-Obruthe,Salma Hayek,Janet jackson,Calista Flockhart ,Sandra Bullock & my cousin Doyinsola have in common???well,u guessed right, they all have SQUARE SHAPED FACES!!

So you have been able to identify your face shape & your next question is what hairstyle suits you??

We must understand that certain hairstyles aren't for everyone. That's why Fringed styles fit some, while on others it looks like they got a cat in their faces. The same way Cropped styles fit some people & doesn't fit others.

Don't get me wrong, there certainly is a Fringed style that suits each face shape. Same way there is a cropped style that suits every face shape,it's just for us to know which one & to see celebrities who fall in that same face shape category.

For a square face shape,a haircut that softens your face is ideal. Most flattering haircut for you is Medium layers that shape the face and soften the jaw.

Bangs/what most people here call Fringes help soften features. Bangs should never be short or boxed off at the edges.Short bobs, extra long styles, or haircuts with sharp, angular lines, should be avoided as they lay emphasis or draw attention towards ur Squared Jaw.

Height at the crown will elongate your symmetrical shape. If your hair is straight, you may want to consider a body wave, as some curl or wave to the hair will achieve a nice balance to the straight features of your face shape.

PLS AVOID: Long straight styles that accentuate the square jawbone. "Linear" straight bangs or center parts aren't the best choice. A straight bob ending at the jaw line is the wrong thing to do for your face shape. You can wear a layered bob, however it should end ABOVE or BELOW the jaw line, NOT at the jaw. Make sure in styling that you achieve some roundness to the shape and some height at the crown or bangs.

Also, if you are selecting earrings for this face shape, it is best to select those that are rounded. Hoop earrings and those similar in nature can be extremely beneficial when it comes to adding a rounded contour to this shaped face.

Wearing small earrings, like diamond studs, can actually make your face appear more squared off. You will want to select necklaces that have a “V” shape to them, this will provide a smooth appearance.
