Chin Chinny Chin Chin

Hey Pretties,

have i ever told you how i love being a makeup artist & how i love showing women how wonderful their features are?? And then when paid to do one of the things i enjoy doing,SHEER BLISS!

Chinny is one client i've come to love & respect. She found my contact over the internet 2years ago, went through this blog, called me and that was it. Chinny loves to look FAB when she has special events & she allows me go all out.

For this event, she wanted smokey eyes (she always wants smokey eyes *rolls eyes*) and her lips were a shocking pin that bounced off her beautiful creamy complexion.

How i achieved the look:

- I applied some Embryollise moisturizer, followed by some Oil mattifier (No 7) and a little silicon primer (FM)

- Then i went in with some liquid foundation (MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC44) to even out her complexion a little bit and then concealed her dark spots & undereyes with Milani's secret cover concealer in

- I set her face with MAC's MSF Natural Powder (in MEDIUM DEEP) & IMAN's Oil Blotting Powder in CLAY Medium

- For her cheeks,i warmed up her face with the Sleek Contour Powder in Medium & went over that with Sleek's Blush in PINK PARFAIT & PINK ICE

- For her brows, i used HOT's brow pencil in BROWN & went over that with a bit of Zaron's Brow Powder

- For her eyes, i used PRESTIGE's eye primer and went over that with Sugarpill's Purple eyeshadow (Poison Plum) and Carbon (matte black in the crease). On her browbone,i placed some of her face powder atop the concealer i used on her undereye. Then i finished up the look with Wet n Wild's Black Cream Eyeliner & Red Cherry's '600' lashes (available here)

- For her lips,i used HOT's lip pencil in OSOMOTE(a purple color) & went over that with a mix of HOT's high-shine lipstain in CLEOPATRA (a Hot Pink) and Jioney's Longlasting Lipgloss in LLG18 (available here)

And there you have it,something easy peasy to replicate

Get The Look : Icy Blue & Sunflower Petals

Hey Pretties,

Adetutu's Handcut & Aso-oke Combo were 2 Bold Colors in Sunflower Yellow & Cobalt Blue & being a Plus-Sized Lady, you might expect her to play safe.

Oh No,she didn't!She went all out & you'll agree with me that it did suit her. The Peach Coral Beads complimented it all so well,i don't think i would have worn it better.

For the look,i went out of my comfort zone and used the actual colors of her clothes (on her eyes) which i hate doing because i'm of the school of thought that matching colors to clothes is somewhat amateurish. But this time around, it sooooo worked. I chose to
pair the eyes with peach colored nude lips.

When i was done, she was happy about everything especially the lipcolor as her husband doesn't like loud lip colors

Products I Used :

Face

MaryKay Medium Coverage Foundation in 600 & 607
Milani Secret Cover Concealer Cream in Honey (to highlight)
BlackUp 2-Way Cake in TW 11 & 12
Mac Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Dark
Sleek Contour Kit in Medium
Sleek Blush by 3 Palette  in Pink Sprint

Eyes

MAC Frost Eyeshadows in Gorgeous Gold (in the inner corner of her eye)
Shades of Blus from a Miss Rose Wet Eyeshadow Palette
Wet & Wild Gel Liner in Black

Lips

MAC lipliner in Chestnut
Zaron lipliner in ClayPot
Zaron lipstick in Barefaced
Sleek lipgloss in Champagne

Are you getting married and aren't sure if such bright colors would look great together? Now you know!

Product Review : MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in 'Sweet Ever After' & 'Goes and Goes'

Hey Pretties,

in my fast growing lipstick collection, these 2 happen to be very dear to my heart. By now, anyone who knows me knows i love lip colors in the plum & purple family. So expect to see one in every lipstick review *hides face*

According to MAC : it has a lightweight texture, creamy finish & comfortable longwear(the real reason i got them). It's slick in use & applies without need of a top coat and lasts up to 12hours. It won't feather or transfer and the color stays true . It helps the lips stay soft and hydrated
GOES AND GOES
Goes & Goes is a lovely purple with blue undertones, it absolutely is flattering to my skintone.
SWEET EVER AFTER
Sweet Ever After is an ideal nude color with a slight hint of shimmer for anyone who likes to play safe & wants long-lasting wear.

Weight : 3.6g / 0.12 US oz

Pros :
- It's true in color. What you see in the tube is what you see on the lips
- Its creamy texture feels lovely on the lips.not oily & not uncomfortable to wear.
- It hydrates the lips the way chapstick does (i'm referring to the matte-like feel)
- It doesn't transfer,  except you intentionally drag your finger across your lips to take it off.

Cons:
- The shape of the product means you have to apply it with extreme skill if using it straight from the tube.  Better yet, use a lip brush.

Verdict :

I will repurchase these shades and others in the collection.

Ps : please follow this blog if you're not yet a follower

Replicate : Abi's White Wedding Look

Hey Pretties,

It's Christmas day & here's wishing all readers of my blog a very Merry Christmas. May Christ the Reason For the season dwell in your hearts richly & may our lives be a reflection of his wondrous love towards us.

I would have loved to do a holiday inspired look for you, but mehn - O dikwa next year, lol. In the interim, i decided to teach you how i achieved one of Abi's bridal looks for those who need some inspiration for what look to wear today or this festive season.

It was difficult deciding which of Abi's looks to share with you, but i decided this look is the easiest of the 2.

You can't go wrong with this Look

 For her Eyes -

1). I covered dark areas of her eyes with some concealer, outlined her bows with Davis's Brow Pencil in '018' & filled it in with BM Pro's Brow Powder in 'Auburn'.
2). I then highlighted her brows with a concealer 2 shades lighter than her skin tone & set it with a matching shadow with a hint of shimmer
3). I went over her lids with Bm Pro's Eyeshadow base in 'Light' & blended it into her crease
4). In her crease i blended Casabella's eyeshadow in 'Navajo Brown' to add definition & depth to her eye area
5). In the inner corner to 3/4 of her lids i used a mix of MAC's Eyeshadows in 'Paradisco' & 'Expensive Pink' & for the outer 1/4 of her lid, i used a mix of MAC's Eyeshadows in 'Carbon' & 'Fig 1'
6). I lined her upper lashline with Casabella's Indelible Gel Eyeliner in 'INK' & applied KISS by I-Envy lashes in 'Au Naturale 02 - KPE 09'
7). On her lower lashes,i went in with Jordana's Easyliner Eyeliner in 'Midnight Blue'

 For her Lips -

1). I lined 3/4 of her lips with Jordana's Lip Pencil in 'Plum' & blended with my finger
2). I filled in the inner lower lip with Jordana's Lipstick in 'Barely Pink' (A Baby Pink Color with Shimmer in it)
3). I filled her entire upper lip and perimeter of her lower lip with Black Opal's Lipstick in 'Congo Pink' (A Fuscia Pink Color just like what you see in my Logo)
4). I blended both lip colors with Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lipgloss in 'Sugar High' - That's my HG clear lipgloss right there *wink*

So try it out & i would be delighted to see what you were able to come up with. Have a Fun & memorable Holiday - sitpretty412@yahoo.com

Say Mummy!!

Hey Pretties,

Are there words to describe the lovely Lady who gave birth to me? Nah!! I doubt it strongly. The past 2 months have been fun with my mum staying with me to help with Baby Dieko and amidst the other responsibilities she has, she finds time to enjoy taking care of my kids.

She calls it 'Ise Omo'(Parental Duty) and i doubt if there's one day since i became a mother that she hasn't been there for me. My Mum inspired my love for makeup and i'm totally grateful to her.

So one day she requests for a makeover(she sha can't be living with PrettyK and not have a healthy dose) and so i hooked her up.

Being in her 50s, there are a few challenges to be expected but because she has a 'plump' face(laughs out loud), i didn't have to do so much work.

See What I Mean!!
With some brightening eye cream(MaryKay Indulge Soothing Eye-Gel) ; flesh toned eye colors(BM Pro 'Lava' Eyeshadow & MAC 'Amber Lights' Eyeshadow); a matching liner to her head-wear(Jordana Easyliner Eyeliner in 'Midnight Blue') and a plum lippie(MAC 'Dark Side' Cream Lipstick),her true beauty shone through. I used a less is more approach in my application techniques and she loved everything about her makeover(not like she had a choice,Right! :-)
So who says Makeup is bad? If it can brighten the dullest of faces and boost confidence,i'm all for it. And this post just inspired a challenge,i'll let you know when i achieve it.

Product Review : MAC 217 Blending Brush

Hey Pretties,

In my Arsenal of Tools, there's one brush i never leave home without & it's the MAC 217 Blending Brush.

According to MAC : the 217, can be used for shading or blending of color or creamy products. This brush has fine, densely packed fibers that are arranged in an oval shape.

Pros

- It is 17cm long, which means it's are very comfortable to hold & work with
- The brass ferrule is nickel-plated, which means it has been protected against 'Corrosion' & 'wear'
- It is hand-sculpted, which means the brush was produced with attention to detail
- It does an effortless job in the blending of eyeshadows, cream products(like concealers) & even powder in hard to reach areas.
- It is easy to clean

Cons

- The 217 retails for $27.50 which i must say isn't cheap.
- In event that you use this brush with a very pigmented product (Sugarpill eyeshadows in my case), the bristles of the brush after washing/cleaning don't come off so white.

Verdict
It is worth every penny & i certainly will repurchase.

Pretty Makeover : Clean Beauty!

Hey Pretties,

Ejiro happens to be a current student of mine & as part of the training i give,i teach DIY where i help you identify the strongest features of your face & show you how to make them look stunning.

Ejiro's idea of makeup (The Way She Came That Morning)

I believe a makeup artist/any woman in the beauty industry should be able to project her services just by the way she appears . I mean, you can't sell Spa beauty treatments to someone when you have awful & scarred skin & expect good business.

That aside,we began the class with a proper foundation & concealer routine. I Shared the importance of applying makeup on very clean skin as well as the effectiveness of Primers. You can judge by her picture below the difference doing so makes.

A Proper Base Laid Out

Then, i went ahead to show her how to bring out the eyes, lips & face without a Myriad of wild looking-colors. Most clients i've met believe the louder the colors, the more work you've done. I BEG TO DIFFER!!

Outdoors

Indoors

Product Review : Bdellium Eye-Liner Brushes

Hey Pretties,

if i say i have a fascination with eyeliners and Liner brushes, that's an understatement. I'm obsessed with Liners in all colors and textures(Creams/Gels , Liquid, Pencil etc) and sometimes getting a liner brush with a pointed/felt tip that doesn't sway where you don't want is soo hard to come by.

Though i had the MAC 209 or 211 liner brushes in mind and at $21.50,i knew i could get something cheaper and that's why i settled for the Bdellium Studio Line in 708 & 710 until i finally decide to get the MAC and i must tell u that i'm not disappointed i got them.

708 Bent Liner Brush

710 Eyeliner Brush

According to Bdellium :

Bdellium Tools Studio Line of brushes are makeup tools designed from top grade materials and assembled by hand for a superior quality. Each and every brush showcases the flawless application medium that is Bdellium Tools. From precisely shaped brush heads to balanced mixtures of natural and/or synthetic hair bristles, the luxuriously lacquered long wooden handles of the Studio Line will give you optimum control and comfort resulting in a perfect application time after time. All of the Studio Line brushes are treated with an antibacterial agent on the bristles. (Colors shown in pictures may slightly differ from actual product due to lighting and color settings.)

Pros
1). They're affordable, they both retail for $7.04 each
2). The lacquered handles ensures it isn't easily stained
3). The tips stay pointed during use
4). They help to draw a thin or thick line depending on what you're trying to achieve.
5). They can be used with cream or liquid products
6). They're easy to wash
7). The 708 is thinner in dimension and the bent-design allows you see what you're doing especially when you're trying to draw a thin line on your face without outrightly blocking your view. It also helps to get into corners and can be used for detailing work.

Cons
The only con is that the brush fibres are strong when you first get them & as any good makeup artist should know, you must always wash new brushes. Washing solves the problem of any stiff feeling your brush might have.

Look forward to hearing from those who have tried out this line of brushes.

xoxo

MY NEW FOUND LOVE FOR MAC!!

Hey Pretties,

thank you for being so patient with me. Trust you all have been great. I've in the last year acquired quite a number of MAC products and when i hear people say : Why MAC, i say : WHY NOT MAC!

I'm definitely not one of those makeup artists that say MAC or NOTHING , but i must say it's one brand that's been consistent for over 28years founded by 2 men(Frank Toskan & Frank Angelo) in Canada in 1984 and their Slogan is : All Ages, All Races, All Sexes. This is what has endeared most makeup artists especially men to the Brand (Welcome Ricky martin, lol).

It's a Cruelty-Free Brand and not until the advent of MAC could you find the Most Pigmented & Bold shades of eyeshadows from other brands(I stand to be corrected). I Love the Young Spirit and Energy behind all their products from the great collection of Lip & Eye products & Shades, to the ever-evolving seasonal collections, to the Fun packaging and to the standards they keep.

MAC LOGO

Not once have i heard : MAC's -------- used to be very good. I'll say it's one of those brands you can't go wrong investing in especially since it got acquired by another Trusted Brand,ESTEE LAUDER in 1998.

So when you're looking for QUALITY, PIGMENTATION, GREAT VALUE & CRUELTY-FREE BEAUTY, think MAC.

To view the great collections, visit : www.maccosmetics.com / www.maccosmetics.co.uk / www.maccosmetics.com/home.tmpl?LOCALE=en_CA

And if you need to know where to find authentic MAC products in Nigeria, pls send me a mail at sitpretty412@yahoo.com

Hopefully this post was helpful

My 1st Matte Lippies!!

Hey Pretties, now, this is no news,so why write about it?

Honestly, most of the lipsticks you find in Lagos are either Creamy or sparkly. Hardly would you come across a truly matte lipstick. When i ordered my very 1st MAC haul (See Post Here ) , i decided to go the Matte way & get me 2 mattes in the color range i use a lot, Red & Pink and i settled for the Very Popular RUBY WOO & PLEASE ME!!

Please Me

Ruby Woo

Rubywoo

Please Me (I know i look funny, but applied with a darker lip liner,i'm sure my lips would look better.i'm no Nicky Minaj :))

VERDICTS

A). Ruby Woo
 -  Rubywoo's the Perfect Shade of Red that goes with every Undertone/ Skin complexion and because of its Deep Blue Hue, it one of the safest reds you'll find out there,
   -  Because it's a Matte Lipstick, you'll do well to moisturize your lips say 30mins before application.
    Why??
Matte Lipsticks have a tendency to be very drying & enhance imperfections in any lip like Chaps & Blisters.
 -  It goes on very red, but not without you having to apply straight from the tube, a solution which made me break some into my lip palette. I do this a lot when any lippie tries to frustrate me.
 -  It's important to line your lips with a Red Lip pencil, a shade close to the shade of red rubywoo comes in, as close to your inner lip, otherwise, you end up with a lip that looks like this within minutes.

Now, you don't want to go anywhere with such lips :(

B). Please Me
 -  This on the other hand is a matte lipstick that's very uncommon.
 -  It's a shade of Baby Pink lipstick that reminds you of your Barbie doll as a kid, Nicky Minaj & Cotton Candy all wrapped in one.
-  If you have moderately shaped lips like mine, be ready to see your lips looking twice bigger. Being the shade it is, it gives instant volume to your lips.
-  If you have even bigger lips than mine, it would be more flattering if you applied a plum or berry lipliner or lipstick at the edges of the lips just to give some contrast. The darker your complexion is, the greater the need for you to do this.
-  It's as matte as Ruby woo above & you'll also do well to moisturize your lips before application

So hopefully, this review has been helpful for anyone considering getting any of these lipsticks. First choice been Rubywoo of course.

Thanks for reading,
xoxo
